Two-factor authentication (SMS) — early access

Two-factor authentication helps keep user's accounts and data safe. If switched on for a user, two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security by requiring the user to provide two different forms of identification before accessing their account. If enabled for your account, two-factor authentication using SMS is available in addition to two-factor authentication using email.

If enabled, admin users can switch two-factor authentication on for individual or multiple users in User Admin. For information, see Configuring individual usersConfiguring multiple users (using bulk actions). Alternatively, they can enforce two-factor authentication for all users with a particular license. For information, see Configuring two-factor authentication — early access.

If switched on for a user, the first time they log in, they will be prompted to select where they want a verification code sent when they log in subsequently — to either an email address or, if enabled, a phone number. After that, they will get an email or SMS with a one-time code after a certain period as configured, any time they use a different device, browser, or network, or if they enter the wrong password two times in a row. The code is 6 digits long and is valid for 5 minutes. For more information, see Logging in to the Vonage Contact Center Admin PortalLogging in to ContactPad.
