Note

Before adding a Log a Call console component to a console app in Salesforce Class, such as the Service Cloud, you must have already added the appropriate app.

If you are using a non-console app in Salesforce Classic, you can add the component to publisher actions configuring page layouts. For information about adding Log a Call to your non-console apps, see Configuring page layouts for adding and displaying call notes in Salesforce Classic.

If you are using Salesforce Lightning Experience, to add call notes, see Configuring page layouts for adding and displaying call notes in Lightning Experience.

When you use a console app you have an option to add and display call notes using console component instead of adding Log a Call to task page layouts. To do that you must first create a new custom console component, and then add the component to the app. Using this component, agents can add notes in console mode without need to use publisher actions.
