Webhooks

Webhooks are like digital messengers that deliver real-time information from one application to another. When something happens in one application, a webhook sends a notification to the other application, which can then react accordingly.

Subscriptions describe the types of events that trigger a webhook notification, and where the notification should be sent. A subscribed event — an agent changing their presence, for example — triggers a notification from Vonage Contact Center (VCC) (the 'sender') to the URL defined in the subscription. The webhook notification contains a signature the receiver can use to verify that the notification has come from the expected sender and has not been tampered with.

For information about the concepts introduced here and about the event types subscribers can subscribe to, see Terminology used in Webhooks and Event types in Webhooks.

In the Webhooks area of VCC, admin users can view, create, update, and delete webhook subscriptions.
