Announcements in the Announcer applet
The Announcer applet plays announcements to the caller. The announcements generally contain data previously retrieved in the interaction plan. The applet can announce the following types of data:
- Characters
- Date
- Time
- Numbers
- Day of the week. You can configure the Announcer applet to announce text day of the week. Additionally, you can announce 'yesterday', 'today' and 'tomorrow'. For information about announcing 'yesterday', 'today' and 'tomorrow', see Using 'yesterday', 'today', 'tomorrow' in announcements.
- Audio file (uploaded). Configure the Announcer applet to play the uploaded audio file.
- Dynamic audio file. Configure the Announcer applet to play an audio file, dynamically specified at run time. For information about using dynamic announcements, see Using dynamic announcements.
- Text. Configure the Announcer to convert specified text to speech. For information about using the text-to-speech feature, see Using text-to-speech in announcements.
Balance The Announcement Type 'Balance' is currently enabled for one account only. When Vonage Contact Center routes an interaction through a Data Announcer applet configured to announce a Balance, the announcement fails for all other accounts. The applet then routes the interaction to the applet specified in Next Applet on Failure. For more information, contact your account manager.
For more information about the Announcer applet, see Announcer applet.
Custom announcements
If you use any of the following announcement types in an Announcer applet, the applet uses a number of prerecorded audio files:
- Characters
- Date
- Time
- Numbers
- Day of the week
If enabled for your account, you can customize the audio files that the Announcer applet uses to announce the data. For example, you might want to use a different language, accent, or gender from the default Vonage Contact Center audio files. The default audio files are in British English and use a female voice.
To customize the announcements that the Announcer applet plays, you must supply a number of recordings. These recordings must include the text in your chosen voice. For information about the recordings that the Announcer applet requires, see Recordings used by the Announcer applet later in this page. For information about recording your own audio, see Recording and preparing audio used in applets.
When you have recorded the audio, send the audio files to Vonage Contact Center.
Recordings used by the Announcer applet
The following table contains the names of the recordings that the Announcer applet uses when you choose to announce characters, a date, a time, a number, or day of the week.
To use a specific voice for these recordings, you must rerecord the audio files in the chosen voice.
The recordings' names appear without the .wav extension. A grouped set of filenames—for example, A ... Z—indicates that you need to provide files A.wav, B.wav, C.wav and so on, up to Z.wav. An individual filename in quotes—for example, 'and'—means that the applet requires a file called and.wav.
