Using dynamic announcements
How do I dynamically select the announcement to play to each caller?
You can configure Announcer and Menu applets to dynamically select the announcements that the applets play to each caller. The applets use values in a data source to identify the audio files to play. For information about the Announcer and Menu applets, see Announcer applet and Menu applet.
For more information about dynamic audio files and preparing to use them, see Dynamic audio files.
Ensure that you have a data source that contains the appropriate value available to the applets. The value in the data source must match (including the case) the file name of the appropriate audio file; multiple values must be comma-separated. You can also use relative paths rather than just file names if the audio file is stored within a folder.
To configure this feature, perform the following tasks:
- In the same interaction plan as your data source, create an Announcer or Menu applet.
- In Announcement type, select Dynamic audio file. In Announce from or Data source in Announcer or Menu applets respectively, select the data source that contains the required value.
- Continue creating the applet as required. For more information about the Announcer or Menu applet, see Announcer applet or Menu applet.
The applets use the value in the specified data source to identify an audio file to play. If the data source contains a comma-separated list of values, the applets look for and play all corresponding audio files in the order in which they appear. If the audio file or any of the audio files do not exist, the applets play no audio and route the call to the applet specified in the On failure or Menu failure applet field accordingly.
