Configuring friendly names for IVR slots
How do I prepare an IVR slot for storing information provided during a call?
Before applets can store or use IVR data, you must define the IVR slots that store collected information.
You can collect the following types of data from the caller:
- Single digit. You can use single digit slots to save menu options that a caller selects, and use their selection to route the call accordingly. Or store caller responses to survey questions, such as rating the call from 1-5.
- String of digits. You can use slots that store strings of digits to store longer numbers provided by a caller, such as their customer number or telephone number.
- Audio. You can use audio slots to store a voice recording of the caller leaving their name and address or general feedback about the call.
To configure a friendly name for an IVR slot, perform the following steps:
- Log in to the VCC Admin Portal as a supervisor. For information on logging in to the VCC Admin Portal, see Logging in to the Vonage Contact Center Admin Portal.
- If you are the supervisor of multiple accounts, select the account that you want to access IVR Data Collector for, and click Select.
From the Vonage Contact Center homepage, move your mouse pointer over the menu icons on the left of the page.
In the menu that appears, click IVR Data Collector. IVR Data Collector appears.- In the Configure data for list, click the number you want to add friendly names for. Click Configure Data. Digit 0 to Digit 31, String 0 to String 31, and Audio 0 to Audio 31 fields appear.
In a currently unused IVR slot field (that is, an empty field), type a memorable and appropriate friendly name for that slot.
For example, type "Customer satisfaction" in Digit 0, "Customer number" in String 0, or "General feedback" in Audio 0. Repeat for all IVR slots you want to use.- Scroll down until you see Update IVR Friendly Names. Click Update IVR Friendly Names. Update IVR Friendly Names appears.
You can now use your configured IVR slots in IVR applets. For example, you can use the IVR Collect Audio, IVR Collect Digit, and IVR Collect Digit String applets to collect data in the applicable IVR slots, by selecting the appropriate slot within the respective applet.
